Operation Encompass helps us support children quickly by sharing safeguarding information with schools when domestic abuse incidents affect their well-being or safety.
Operation Encompass is a national safeguarding partnership between police and education settings. It supports children who may be affected by domestic abuse by ensuring schools receive important information quickly and securely.
At Kingsley Academy, this means we can provide timely care, understanding and appropriate support as soon as a concern is identified. The aim is simple: children who need help should receive it without delay. Early awareness allows staff to respond sensitively, helping learners feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
Following a police-attended incident of domestic abuse, information is securely shared with trained safeguarding leads so support can begin quickly.
Only trained safeguarding staff receive this information and manage it confidentially according to safeguarding procedures.
Staff can respond sensitively, offering reassurance, understanding and support to help learners feel safe in school.
Police, schools and safeguarding partners work together to protect children and promote their well-being.
Early intervention helps reduce anxiety, supports emotional wellbeing and prevents concerns from escalating. When schools know a child may be affected by events outside school, they can respond calmly and appropriately. This helps learners feel understood and supported rather than overwhelmed.
Staff understand when extra care may be needed.
Learners receive reassurance and understanding.
School remains a consistent, trusted space.
