Personalised placements for learners aged 11–16. We offer flexible, referral-based places with vocational pathways, functional skills and steady pastoral support.
We accept referrals for young people in Years 7–11 who need a different approach to learning. Many students come with EHCPs, behaviour plans or individual learning plans and do best in small, practical groups.
We keep this simple and supportive. Here’s what happens after a referral is made:
Once we receive a referral, our team logs the details and begins an initial review.
Kingsley Academy contacts the home school within five days to confirm whether we can meet the learner’s needs.
If suitable, we arrange a visit involving the student, parents or carers, and the school liaison to explore the academy together.
The student application form is completed, transport is agreed, and the service level agreement is signed.
Parents or carers receive a direct contact link to ensure communication remains easy and consistent.
A start date has been agreed and shared with all parties.
We provide regular progress updates to the home school throughout the placement.
After ten weeks, we meet with the student, parents or carers, home school and academy to discuss progress and next steps.

Each referral is carefully reviewed to ensure we can meet the learner’s needs before confirming a placement.
Students can attend up to five sessions each week, depending on their individual plan. Sessions may be arranged as mornings, afternoons, or a mix of both.
Where needed, transport is supported. Students may be collected from their home school and safely returned at the end of each session.
When a placement starts we concentrate on continuous progress and the learner’s well, being. The instruction combines hands, on vocational work with integration of English, maths and ICT. Weekly PSHE and careers sessions are designed to increase independence and prepare for the future.
We run regular progress checks, hold EHCP reviews as required and keep parents updated with clear, simple reports.

We collaborate with schools, families and local support services across Wolverhampton. That includes CAMHS, social care, virtual school teams and other agencies to ensure a coherent plan for education, wellbeing and transition.
Safeguarding is central to everything we do. Our staff receive regular training, we have trained DSLs and a clear policy framework, and we monitor attendance and welfare closely.
